When I try to place my output within the framework of my contemporary art, I can find only one term that grasps my way of thinking, feeling, and working, simultaneously joining it with the experiences of other artists in a general way. This refers to the artists, whom I know and who are close to me, and the way which is non-contradictory to practice. It’s the term of intermedia used in the sense in which Dick Higgins, an artist and theoretician of the Fluxus, has been using it. It is a discipline among other disciplines, able to use means that genetically derive from them, but independent from them all – self-dependent and autonomous. Going farther, dare we say that intermedia art is not only another discipline of art we can choose, but rather a completely different paradigm of art. In brief – if traditional practice usually assumes some training in previously determined discipline or technique, claiming that their command leads to sublimation, intermedia art denies such assumptions and beliefs, comparing them to fixation. Intermedia art consists in the necessity of generating your own discipline or technique, deriving it from the means you have within reach. In this sense it negates the hitherto categories, not complying with the present ‘order of things’, and requiring to build a unique language and technique each time anew. If pre-intermedia art was rather homogeneous, intermedia art is unequivocally heterogeneous.

Gdy podejmuje próbe osadzenia swego dorobku w realiach sobie wspólczesnej sztuki, znajduje tylko jeden termin ogarniajacy mój sposób myslenia (odczuwania, pracy, laczacy je równoczesnie z doswiadczeniami innych, znanych mi i bliskich artystów) w ogólny i niesprzeczny z praktyka sposób. Jest to termin intermedia, w takim sensie, w jakim uzywal go artysta i teoretyk Fluxusu Dick Higgins; czyli dziedzina pomiedzy innymi, mogaca uzywac srodków od nich genetycznie pochodnych, lecz od nich wszystkich niezalezna - samodzielna, autonomiczna. Idac dalej, mozna smialo powiedziec, ze Intermedia sa nie tyle kolejna, mozliwa do wyboru dziedzina, ile zupelnie innym paradygmatem sztuki. Ujmujac rzecz w wielkim skrócie – o ile praktyka tradycyjna zaklada zazwyczaj przewage treningu we wczesniej okreslonej dyscyplinie czy warsztacie, zakladajac, ze ich opanowanie prowadzi do sublimacji, o tyle Intermedia przecza takim zalozeniom i wierze, równajac je z fiksacja. Intermedialnosc zasadza sie na zalozeniu koniecznosci wytworzenia wlasnej dziedziny, wyprowadzenia jej z mozliwych w naszym zasiegu srodków. W tym sensie neguje zastana systematyke i kategorie, nie przestrzega zastanego „porzadku rzeczy", wymaga budowy unikalnego jezyka i warsztatu „za kazdym razem" od nowa. O ile sztuka przed-intermedialna byla raczej homogeniczna, intermedia sa jednoznacznie heterogeniczne.
